Boston Acoustics would like to congratulate Jason Jedlicka and Aaron Daniels on their 1st place finish in the Advanced 1 Class at the Midwest SPL Finals. Their 1991 Ford Festiva houses four SPG555 car audio subwoofers and four GTA-800m car audio amplifiers (only two amplifiers are used). The Advance 1 Class is size and power limited to four 12″ subwoofers and only 2000 Watts, and that’s clamped with a meter, so it’s really 2000 Watts or less and if you step over, you’re disqualified.
This is proof positive of the efficiency aspects of the design, with a finite amount of power, the
quad SPG555s played the loudest, not to bad for a sound quality subwoofer—albeit one with a 3.5″ voice coil and almost a 4″ stroke
I do want to acknowledge the tireless efforts of Jason and Aaron, as a former SPL competitor and enthusiast, I know and have preached so many times that you have to try multiple configurations, take a real scientific approach to building and testing and go to the show prepared, knowing what the vehicle is going to do. They did that, and won. Congratulations again. Can’t wait to see what you’ll be doing next year!
